Color Craft : An Intro to Natural DYE

Learn to dye with a variety of natural dyes in this beginner level class.

Date: November 8th

Time: 1:00-3:00pm

What it is: Every maker needs a great apron, so join this workshop to dye your own! The natural world is full of colors and this workshop will explore how we can use those colors to dye fabric! This workshop focuses on using madder root, gardenia, yarrow, and coreopsis to achieve an array of yellows, oranges and reds. Participants will learn about mordanting fabrics, creating a dye vat, and folding fabrics to achieve patterns.

Natural dyes take time to set, so there will be some downtime between the active dye parts. While the garments soak in the dye vats, Kaitlyn will lead a gentle chair yoga session to help relieve any tension in the shoulders and back.

All supplies provided: pre-mordanted aprons, dye extracts, rubberbands, string, blocks, dye vats, and takeaway bags.

Cost: $100.00

Where: 3765 Sweeten Creek Rd.
